How do I make a donation via Whydonate?
If you have found a fundraising campaign that you can fully identify with and have decided to make a donation, then proceed as follows: Click on the ‘Donate’ button on the page of the fundraiser. A donation screen will then appear. Then fill in the form and click on ‘Donate’. Complete the payment process to donate. You will receive a confirmation of your donation by e-mail. After you have made a donation, you can also leave a message which then appears on the action page.
How do I stop my recurring donation?
With Whydonate, you can stop your recurring donation at any time with just one click. Just log in to your account, click on Dashboard and then the Recurring given. Now you can see all the recurring donations from your account. You can click the Disable button if you want to stop the recurring donation.
How does a donation appear on my bank statement?
If you have made a donation, the name of our partner payment service provider “Mollie” will appear. They handle all incoming payments for Whydonate. The following text can be seen in the description: Donation to “name of the cause” (this is the name of the page where you made the donation). Mollie is a certified Payment Service Provider in Europe with a PCI DSS certificate. They handle all incoming payments for us.
How do I know for sure that my money ends up at the right cause?
All donations are received on a third-party account. These are kept separate from all other cash flows. This is checked by a registered accountant and then filed with the tax authorities. The charities are paid directly from this third party account. Actions for charities can be conducted by a private individual or an organization. Will there be additional costs if I make a donation?
No, except for the amount you donate, there are no additional costs. Suppose you donate € 10, – then this is the amount you have given to the charity and what you can use on your tax return. For donors, the Whydonate platform is completely free. Our platform is maintained with the proceeds of the monthly contributions we receive from the parties that receive the donations. Tip: If you create an account on Whydonate, you always have an up-to-date overview of all the donations that you have made.
Do I have to register myself to be able to donate?
No, you do not have to register yourself to be able to make a donation. If you wish to view your donation later, you can still register yourself. To do so, use the same e-mail address you used to make the donation.
How long does it take before a donation is debited from my bank account?
That depends on the payment method you have chosen. If you have opted for an iDeal payment, you can immediately see it on internet banking. If you have chosen SEPA Direct Debit, the payment will be visible after 5 working days.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, if you donate to an organization registered with ANBI (General Benefit Organizations), your donation is deductible. If you are unsure whether this is the case, check the list of ANBIs at the tax authorities.
How do I know for sure that my money is spent well?
The campaigns you find on Whydonate can be created by an organization or an individual. If it concerns the goal of a registered organization, Whydonate keeps track whether this organization has a CBF quality mark and is ANBI registered. In order to obtain a CBF quality mark or ANBI status, one must publish an annual report on how the money is spent.
Can I also make a recurring donation?
Yes, you can! You can make a recurring donation on all pages where no end date is stated. The donations can then be made monthly or annually. To make a recurring donation: Click on the ‘Donate’ button of the page and click on 'monthly' or 'annually', as per your need. Then fill in the rest of the form and click on ‘Donate’. You will receive a confirmation by e-mail of your donation. Every time after a (recurring) donation has been made, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
How do I receive an invoice / proof of payment after making a donation?
Every donor will receive an invoice / proof of payment after making a donation. This shows exactly what amount has been donated and for what purpose. You can find the invoice in several places: Thank you screen In the screen that appears after making the donation, you will see a link with which you can view the invoice. Thank you email If you enter an email address, we will send you an email immediately after making the donation with a link to view or download the invoice.
